Still Lord Chubalot

Hit Weight Watchers weigh in at lunch today in shorts and t-shirt (Yes, it was cold actually). Did a 3 miler with Lord Lessismore first to shake off the last half pound or so. Weighed in at 178 which means I had a lb to spare. Ihope to take off about 3 lbs by the end of Feb, so last minute heroics anre not necessary and I can weigh in a pair of jeans ('cuz it gets real cold in Feb).

Three pounds by the end of Feb. sounds very do-able. Seeing how generally consistent you've been, I'll be looking forward to seeing you succeed.

Okay, I've published some new "wisdom". :-) As for your Lenten goal, 40 days is not a lot of time for physiological change. That said, something like push-ups require more than just strength changes, so your goal might be feasible. It requires coordination, technique, and strength. Gains in each of the three can be relatively small, but the combined effect will be greater than any one.
The gains are not going to be linear, so don't think you will see your ability improve by 1 per day. Back in my rowing days I worked pull-ups like this:
If the number was 50, I established period a macro cycle (4 weeks) comprised of 3 micro cycles (1 week) and a rest week (very important for physiological change). Rather than 1 additional pull-up per day, the cycles would be like this.
Week 1: 30 per day (5 days)...as long as it takes
Week 2: 40 per day (5 days)...as long as it takes
Week 3: 50 per day (5 days)...as long as it takes
Week 4: 30 per day (3 days)
Week 5: 35 per day (5 days)...
Week 6: 45 per day (5 days)...
Week 7: 55 per day (5 days)...
Week 8: 30 per day (2 days)

Test day at the end of week 8: How many can I do in one shot (no drops).

Doesn't map out exactly to your Lenten goal, but you get the idea.
